Don’t fall prey to  the ‘bait and switch’ carpet cleaning scam

Carpet cleaning is something that most people would want to entrust to a reliable cleaning service. However, it is important to choose the right service or you could end up paying more than you bargained for. It is unfortunate but true. There are a few companies that are only interested in your money and are willing to go to any extent to fulfill that goal.

There are several carpet cleaning scams that aim to squeeze the money out of vulnerable people One is the ‘Bait and Switch’ scam where the company will lure you with an unbelievably low price. Once you’ve signed on the dotted line and they are in your home, they will charge extra for almost every inch of space and offer a barrage of frivolous reasons for the same. They may insist that certain areas may need dual process treatment or preconditioning and then add on more dollars to the bill. Some of these companies are pet-friendly too but not in the true sense of the term.

For them, the fact that you have pets means more money. They will get you to agree to pet treatment even if your pet has never left a trail or stain. Now, that’s pure intimidation and a true scam where they make you believe that without pet treatment your carpet will be ruined. So housewives please take note and learn to say NO if your pets haven’t done anything that could warrant pet treatment for your carpets.

While most carpet cleaners are trustworthy, like every other service or business, there are a few bad apples. All it takes is a little bit of knowledge to make sure you don’t fall prey to bait and switch carpet cleaners.
